After Care, Recovering from Surgery

Recovering from surgery may require particular professional attention and care, especially during the immediate 24 to 48 hours following your discharge from the operating room. Dr. Fisher will advise you if such professional care is necessary. For many patients returning home with family members or significant others is a viable option.

For those who require a more personalized level of post-operative care several options exist.

Private Duty Nursing

Dr. Fisher maintains a selective group of especially trained nurses who are available to accompany patients to their homes or hotels. Such personalized care can be arranged through the office at the time surgery is booked.

Serenity, A Post Surgical Aftercare Retreat

Serenity is a medically oriented setting offering licensed nursing care, hotel-like accommodations and optional therapeutic services. Located in Santa Monica, Serenity offers personalized transportation and spacious and elegantly appointed accommodations.

At Serenity, we offer healing therapies to help balance your health and speed along the recovery process after surgery. Enjoy deep relaxation and manage pain naturally with Massage, Acupressure and Reflexology. Or, pamper yourself with an in-room manicure or pedicure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is available off-site with your doctor’s order. Advance reservations are necessary for these treatments and additional charges will apply.

Serenity Care, Comfort, & Security

Daily rates begin at $775.00/day for Standard Private, $875.00/day for Deluxe Private, $400 for Pre-Op night, & Non-Surgical Guests rates are $350/day. Room rate includes transportation to and from your doctor’s office, nursing care, basic medical and treatments supplies, and meals. Additional charges will apply for medication and special medical equipment (including SCD’s) as ordered by your doctor. Payment terms, and other guidelines and information will be explained at the time of reservation. Serenity does not accept insurance reimbursement. Visiting Hours are 10AM-9PM

Serenity provides the most comprehensive post-surgical aftercare available, with 24-hour RN, LVN, & certified nursing assistants. All our staff are specifically trained in post-operative recovery care and are familiar with your physician’s protocols for medication, treatments, & activity restrictions. Our Director of Nursing & Medical Director oversees and ensures that the quality of your care meets the highest medical standards.

Our nurses are chosen for their skill level, "bedside manner" & commitment to your safe and rapid recovery. They are professional caregivers of the highest caliber. Don’t hesitate to let them know how they can assist you.

Our driver will pick you up following your surgery, and bring you safely to our discreet garage entrance. Once you have been escorted to your room, greeted by your nurses, and have your immediate needs attended to, you can begin to relax and recuperate. All rooms are spacious, elegantly appointed, and equipped with climate control, full adjustable bed with Tempurpedic® mattress, in-room dining area, cable TV, stereo, telephone with voice messaging, and in-room hi-speed internet. With approval from your physician, visit our roof top rose garden and enjoy the city and ocean views.

When it comes to meal selection, you will find a variety of appetizing choices available. Our professionally trained chef has created a menu of delicious and healthy entrees and light snacks for your enjoyment. Our chef and registered dietitian are available to accommodate special dietary needs.

Serenity is discreetly located on Floor Two of Berkley East, a State and Federally licensed healthcare center. Our new multi-level building is equipped with state-of-the-art medical support systems including: interactive nurse call between guest rooms & nursing station, in-wall oxygen system, extensive treatment and pharmacy supplies, as well as a fully equipped treatment room. Under your physician’s orders, we are licensed to administer and perform all nursing procedures that are an essential part of your comfortable and safe recovery. Located in the heart of Santa Monica, there is security in knowing that physician services, leading area hospitals, and allied health service providers are virtually moments away.

Shanteque occupies a private wing with twelve luxury suites surrounding a central nursing station. Licensed professional attendants provide twenty-four hours service and follow Dr. Fisher’s post-operative directions. Transportation in a town car limousine with a medical escort is included in the Shanteque packages which start at $775.00/per night. Non surgical guest accommodations are available.
